Responsible Tourism

Coral Expeditions Costa Rica is committed to conducting our operations, as well as those of our valued business partners, in a manner that minimizes environmental impact. Furthermore, we actively seek to generate a positive influence on the social, economic, and cultural well-being of the residents within Bahia Ballena and the neighboring communities.

Environmental Aspects:

The environmental stewardship of the areas in which we operate is of paramount importance to Coral Expeditions. While we acknowledge that our activities will invariably have some bearing on the natural surroundings, we are dedicated to minimizing any adverse effects through the consistent application of specific measures and policies within our daily operations.

These include a commitment to diligently monitor and adhere to the internal regulations established by each national park we visit, such as Marino Ballena National Park, Corcovado National Park, and Cano Island Biological Reserve, amongst others. Furthermore, we prioritize the optimization of our marine equipment, including outboard motors and towing vehicles, to ensure their efficient operation. We also rigorously enforce the established regulations for responsible whale watching within Costa Rica. Finally, we actively support beach and community cleanup initiatives in Bahia Ballena and the adjacent regions.

Social Aspects:

Coral Expeditions' social and economic commitment to the community is essential to fostering sustainable relationships and creating a positive impact on the local environment of Bahia Ballena. Below are several key aspects that reflect how we contribute to the well-being of the community, considering both its social and economic responsibilities:

• Hiring people from the local community

• Inclusive hiring and the development of diversity policies within the company

• Collaboration with organizations that fight for equal rights and opportunities

• Participation in local dialogue and decision-making forums

• Collaboration with authorities to solve urban problems such as insecurity, poverty, or the lack of basic services

Economic Aspects:

At Coral Expeditions Costa Rica, we believe that one of our missions is also to create economic benefits for our community. For this reason, we apply the following:

Prioritize the hiring of local suppliers for products and services

• Promote the sale of local products in our distribution chains

• Support for the creation of cooperatives or circular economy initiatives that benefit community residents.
